Sella Ronda (4 passes - 2000 m)

Back in the summer of 2003 when our Sabbatical in Munich came to a close, I asked my ISARIA friends Herbert, Jochen and Andi about suggestions for a cycling tour Zach and I could master. The unanimous vote was - the Sella Ronda, which turned out a great suggestion. The Sella Ronda located in the heart of the Dolomites and can be considered a "classic" in alpine cycling. Over a distance of mere 65km (40 miles) four passes have to crossed, three of which are higher that 2000m. On this breathtaking tour you are always supprounded by stunning and towering rock formations.

We stayed overnight in a small Pension in Corvara, and started the Sella Ronda counterclockwise, climbing first the Passo Gardena (Groedner Joch), followed by Pordoi, Passo Sella then descending to Arabba followed by a last climb, the Compolongo.
